Project Life tags and a Card

Hello, hello!
This is Cyndy from Arcy Scraps with two projects for you today! With Valentine's Day coming up, it seems we have forgotten all about Winter... not this girl!
I decided to make a few Project Life cards to swap and a card for the hostess using the Wintery Puns stamp set.
This stamp set has so many sentiments you can use throughout the year, not just Winter.
You can see here how beautifully these stamps stamp.
This is the card I made for the hostess of the swap.
The sentiment is also from the Wintery Puns stamp set!

Felt Cat Card

Hi, everyone!  It's Patty here from the Crafty Kitten.
I'm getting in on the fun this week with Joy's Design Team.  If you have been following the past few days, we've been using techniques that are new to us, and maybe, you as well.

I've got a small collection of metal dies because I don't consider them too cost effective since you can't change their size.  In the past, I'd only been using them with paper.  My LSS started carrying 100% wool felt so I had to pick some up. Well, needless to say....I am HOOKED!

Here's what I made with that great material and Joy's wonderful stamps!

This stamp came from Joy's Lots Of Pun set.  I made a few of these cards because this sentiment can be used for a birthday, congratulations, or a thank you card.

Metal dies cut 100% wool felt like butter!   I really like the texture and look of the felt.  I think it adds a nice touch to the card.

If you have felt and some dies, I hope you'll break them out and experiment.  Add Joy's stamps to the mix and you've got yourself one really neat project!

Colorful Sundae Card

Hi Crafters!
It's Kimberly from hellocutiecrafts here.
This week Joy asked the team to make a project with something new from our stash. Of course, crafters always have something new! ;)
I made a card using Yummy Puns set.

I used Yummy Puns for "Everyday should be a sundae" and "Ice Cream, Happy Birthday!".
Love these sentiments!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone is enjoying the Awesome projects with the new stuff on the blog this week.

For all the details stop by my blog.

Have a wonderful day!

Sparkly Winter card

I love anything sparkly! No amount of glitter is too much for me, from a visual standpoint. I really hate it when it flakes off though! Which is why I love the paper that I used here - sparkly, but not flaky! Anyway, with all the sparkle, I wanted to keep the card simple and focus on the sentiment.

I used the 'thank you SNOW much' from the Wintery Puns and stamped it in the lower left corner before I punched the snowflakes, so that I could position them around the stamp.

For more details on this card, check out my blog.

Using the negative of a die-cut

Hello! This is Patty from the Crafty Kitten with my technique for the week.  I'm going to show you how to use a die cut in a different way.

I turned to my trusty Cameo for this project.  Using the drawing tool, I made a rectangle the size that I needed.

Using one the of tree files available in the Silhouette online store,  I  enlarged, centered it in the rectangle, and then cut it from white card stock.

I marked the green card stock where the tree would be positioned and began to cover the background with Washi  tape.  (If you are in a big hurry, you can use printed card stock.)

It was at this point that I realized the tape was semi-transparent and the green card stock was showing through.  I changed plans and used the white die cut as a base to lay the tape so the true color of the Washi tape showed through.

I used the pencil marks to place the tree onto the card.  Afterwards, I taped the stamped frame to the card and added the glitter star.  This is how it looks after it is assembled.

I chose this stamp from Joy's new Oh, Christmas Puns for my card.  Works perfectly!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial.  If you decide to try this, with all the beautiful Washi Tape and papers out there now, I think you'll be happy with the results!

Christmas Tree Gift Card Holder tutorial

Today I am going to show you how to make a simple Christmas tree shaped gift card holder.
Here you can see where the gift card is hidden in the finished card.
First, I cut a piece of scrap paper into a 5x7 rectangle. That's the size envelope that I wanted my finished card to fit in. fold that paper in half, sketch the tree on it - using up as much space as possible, and then cut out the template.

Trace the template onto your chosen patterned paper to create the back of the card.

Then you want to cut the template into the three tiers of the tree. Trace those tiers onto your patterned paper, but be sure to extend the top edge of the bottom two tiers by about a half inch to allow for an overlap and adhesive.

Glue the top two tiers together. Glue the bottom tier to the back of the card using adhesive just on the sides and bottom to create a pocket.

Finally, add a little adhesive to the back of the top part of the tree so that it sticks to the gift card. Then have fun embellishing!

Paper Purse from 12x12 and Embossed Mini Cards

Hello!  I am June Houck and this is my first post as a Joy's Life design team member.
I enjoy making teacher gifts like this paper purse filled with four 3x3 cards.

The paper purse was created with one sheet of Lori Whitlock's Winter Park "Ski Lodge" 12x12 paper.
The red solid on the mini cards is also Lori Whitlock's Winter Park collection.

I stamped my Joy's Life "Wintery Puns" sentiment, then used my snowflake embossing folder on the top and bottom.  Then I brushed the raised snowflakes with my white ink pad for dimension.

To create the paper purse:
Score 1" on two opposite sides of your 12x12 paper.  Fold and adhere.
Score at 3.5" on the two sides that were not folded.  Fold and adhere (they will overlap.)
Fold in half (@ 5") and score 3/4" on either side of the center fold.
Fold these back to create the pleated bottom of the bag (see picture.)
Adhere the two center parts of the bag at the top, creating two pockets.
Punch slits on both sides, and secure ribbon inside the bag with strong adhesive.
(I have a more detailed picture tutorial on my blog.)

Fill pockets, and you are finished!

Thank you for stopping by.  Don't forget to check out all of the Joy's Life stamp sets; I already gave my wish list to Santa :)

Fangs So Much!

I hope you all have had a great week and are looking forward
to nothing short of an amazing weekend!
This week the Joy's Life DT has been Embossing their creations.
Here is a quick Halloween Themed Thank You Card
that I created featuring the "Fangs So Much" stamp
found in the Halloween Puns Stamp Set (my favorite!) :)

I heat embossed the edges of my blocks with Tim Holtz's
Distress Black Embossing Powder in Black Soot.
It's a bit hard to see as I had a little difficulty trying to get
a good shot showing the heat embossed edges,
but it goes around both blocks completely.
I really love the distressed and aged look it added to the card.

I wish you all a happy weekend and feel free to stop on by
my blog HERE to check out more details on my card!

Happy Scrappin'!

Happy Thanksgiving Leaves card

When Joy asked us to use leaves this week, I couldn't wait to break out my new (used) gypsy and see what leaves I could find on there!

I wanted to create a sort of cascade of leaves. The line under the sentiment is not part of the stamp, I added that to coordinate with the lines I drew on the leaves. this stamp is from the It's All Fall stamp set.

See my blog for more info.
